Frequently Asked Questions:
Q: How are your sessions different from a standard physical therapy session?
A: Body & Breath sessions are one on one, hands on, lasting 60-75 minutes. Utilizing breath work and mind body techniques, I guide you through customized movements specific to your physical or medical needs. I equip you with techniques to take control of your body, control your pain and place your rehabilitation into your own hands.
My sessions work great in conjunction with traditional physical therapy, provide continued support when PT sessions have ended, help prevent injuries, and prepare your body for surgery (pre-hab). They are also ideal for those whose doctors or therapists recommend yoga but prefer guidance from a medically skilled instructor.
Q: How are your sessions different from a typical private yoga session?
A: Body & Breath sessions offer a medically informed approach to traditional yoga. You can begin in the acute stages of pain or injury. With my expertise as a skilled physical therapist, I can guide you through complex pain management, various medical conditions, acute injuries, pre-surgery preparation, and post-surgical recovery.
Q: I find relief with private massage, acupuncture, Stretch Lab, and chiropractic visits. So why would I need Body & Breath?
A: I'm a big supporter of all those therapies, and if they’re helping you, I’d never suggest stopping. However, Body & Breath offers one key difference: YOU take an active role in your own healing. Instead of relying on someone else to massage, apply needles, manipulate, or stretch your body, my sessions enable you to fully and FINALLY take control of your health, strength and flexibility.
Rather than cycling between pain and relief from one appointment to the next, we’ll work together to build a personalized toolbox of therapeutic movements and breathwork—techniques you can return to anytime for lasting relief, strength, and mobility.
Q: I already do yoga, I’m healthy, not it pain, what would Body & Breath offer me?
A: A private session is very valuable for practicing yogis. Body & Breath sessions offer an added layer of medically informed alignment and injury prevention techniques. I can guide you safely through more advanced poses, teach you how to deepen your practice and educate you about your body.
